Mørland is a former diplomat with eleven years of experience from the foreign service, where he worked as Head of Information and spokesperson for the Minister of International Development. He holds a Master of Science (Economics) from the London School of Economics and a Master of Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. Mørland holds several board positions, including the Board of the Norwegian Football Association.
